In the photots , you can see the local of the woonwoths supermarket. Woolworths Supermarkets (colloquially known as "Woolies") is a supermarket/grocery store chain in Australia, owned by Woolworths Limited. Along with Coles, Woolworths form a near duopoly of Australian supermarkets, together accounting for about 80% of the Australian market, however the Australian expansion of discount supermarket chain Aldi has challenged this duopoly in recent years. d I bought lots of chocolate and sweets. Woolworths mostly specialises in selling food (vegetables, fruit, meat, packaged foods, etc.), but they also sell magazines, DVDs and stationery items among other things. Although it is not as big as the supermarket in Tea Tree Plaza, less people are in here and we don't need to stay in a narrow place. 203 In the afternoon, we continued our trip in Adelaide zoo. We went to see a bird show, which the bird can receive the order from the staff of the zoo, and the bird can go and come back the place that the staff wanted.
Adelaide Zoo is Australia's second oldest zoo (after Melbourne Zoo), and the only major metropolitan zoo in Australia to be owned and operated on a non-profit basis. It is located in the parklands just north of the city centre of Adelaide, South Australia. It is administered by the Royal Zoological Society of South Australia Incorporated (trading as Zoos SA) which is a full institutional member of the Zoo and Aquarium Association (ZAA) and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA). and which also administers the Monarto Zoo near Murray Bridge. At the midnight, we decided to have our tea in the city. I also took some photos of the view in the city. Sam and I also went to a shop called 'Infinty store' which is a shop selling different type of cards like WS and Magic Card. I looked at the price of the ws and it is selling as seven Australia dollar, wow the price is twice of hong kong's. At night, we had tea in the Burger Theory and I had a beef burger. Although it is very dear, it is very delicious. If there is a Burger Theory in Hong Kong, I must go there and have a meal. 248 Today, Chris, Alison,Sam and I went to the Adelaide Zoo. In the morning, we saw many different kinds of animals. For example, there are giraffe, kangaroo, wombat, Basilian tapir, panda, hyacinth macaw, Pygmy marmoset, white bellied caique and suchlike animals.

At the noontime, we had lunch in the restaurant which is in the Adelaide Zoo. Each of us bought a hot dog with a bottle or can of soft drink. We also bought some chips and all of them tasted good. The price of the hot dog is totally not dear but the price of the soft drink you must amazed. three australia dollars a can of soft drink, wow, so dear. 202 .In the morning, we went to the Australia Aboriginal Museum. We watched a movie about the fairytale of the aboriginal people. The story is about there was somebody who is an aboriginal in Australia. He didn't good at everything, whenever he sees others celebrate the results or achievement, he will feel ashamed. So he tried to catch some prey. But he fell to the darkness and enjoyed the life with some bad evils. Finally, his father noticed this and helped and saved him from the underground. The lesson of this story is that every people have their own ability and everyone is not perfect, we don't need to admire others. Today, we visited the Aboriginal Australian Museum.we saw many tools the aboriginal use. For example, we saw the weapons they use like boomerangs, axes and suchlike. There is also a small cinema which plays some aboriginal fairy tales, and I have watched a video clip like this:The story is like this: there was somebody who is an aboriginal in Australia. And I also saw the foods the aboriginal eat. They ate worm, insects, ants.... They were horrible! And After that, we went to the central market. I took a look on the thank you cards for my host family, and I also bought some sonvenir. I bought four thank you cards for each of my host family members and each cards was sold as six Australia dollars. In total, there is twenty four dollars, I mean Australia dollars. When it comes to Hong Kong dollar, they cost one hundred and twenty dollars something. It is totally expensive!!!!! Four thank you cards cost one hundred and twenty Hong Kong dollars!! 245 Today, I had English lesson which teaches us some culture and history of the aboriginal people in Australia. From 09:00 to 12:00, we had a revision on what we saw in victor harbour and granite island yesterday. To give an example, we saw some sheep, horses,Alpaca and cattle. We also took a look on the culture and history of the aboriginal in Australia. Mrs Margy showed us the fairy tale of the aboriginal. The story is like this: there was somebody who is an aboriginal in Australia. After that, we had a drama lesson with some local students. We were divided into 5 groups and tried to act 3 scenes to present an accident. In the arvo, we continued our English lesson until there was 15:00. 201 Do you still remember what I had done last Sunday? I went fishing and I got one squid! Today, our dinner was based on the squid that I got last Sunday! Alison said thanks to me, I also proud of my achievements. Although I only got one, Chris got three... This night, we had some calamari for tea and it tasted really beaut if we eat it with salad cream. It seemed not full enough because it is just a dish of snack, so we ate them with potatoes. Calamari is an American local snake which is very common. You can see it everywhere in America. Today, this was the first time that Chris tried to make this dish. And Chris also showed me how to clear the squid, and I take a 3-minutes video as my homework. It is very amazing that there is a thing like a plastic board inside the cuttlefish. There are also a lot of Black liquid in it, it is so disgusting and dirty. But it seemed that Chris didn't care this and he quite enjoy the process of cooking. He have developed my interest in cooking, I might join some interest classes about cooking in Hong Kong! I love this very much! 209 After visiting the Granite Island, we had lunch in a seaside park. In the park, there were lots of seagulls. There were at least ten, not, twenty seagulls. All of us were divided into three groups and had our lunch individually. In our lunchtime,we are the lunch which was prepared by our host family. There is something else that I am proud of, my lunch is made by Ben, my Australia mum XDD Some of my classmates screamed because they scare the animals which are going to touch them. Terry and Paul could not finish their lunch, so they feed the seagull with their sandwiches. After that, we have a look on the Oscar W, which is a ship that is drived by a patten steamer. There are no more than one hundred of this kind of ships in the world. and the ship is using as a spot now. Then, my classmates, including me, bought some souvenir in the souvenir shop. I bought a boat figure and some post cards. Although I know the price of them are pretty expensive, I still bought them because I think I have likely bought nothing in Adelaide... After I came back home, I played Xbox with Sam, and I performed better than before. The day before, I had got 2 kills and 10 deaths. I will perform better and better! At night, we had pasta with tomato sauce for tea, and this was really delicious. But I think having steak or meat only is better than having pasta. 256 Today,we went to the Granite Island in Victor Harbour. We went there by bus for two hours. Yes, we have spent more than half of our school time on the bus. In the morning, we arrived the school at nine o'clock as usual. On the way, we saw a lots of different plants or animals. For example, we saw a lot of trees and plants such as vineyard and others flowers I don't know what it is. We also saw a lot of animals like cows, cattle, alpaca, sheep and lamp. When we arrived there, the scene was next to the sea, so the temperature is very low, but not lower than the day I went fishing. What I saw on the granite island were horse drawn tram , which is a team are pulled by a horse , granite stones, which are big stone and not common to see in Australia, trees, plants, little penguins and view and so on. I was amazed when I saw the horse drawn tram, because I seldom see a team and all the teams in Hong Kong drive by electricity and not as here as pull by a horse. It is cool and interesting. The view there is really beautiful, I love there so much. Unfortunately, we couldn't see any seal or dolphin, but the notice board announce that we can see them, so all is my classmates including me are a little bit disappointed. 240 |
